Pisgah
Sarah and I took off for the mountains over the weekend. Friday night we couldn't find a campground so we stayed at a Super8 hotel.
Saturday, we cruised through the pisgah NF until we came upon the Sunburst campground. It only has 10 or so campsites so i wouldn't want to bet on finding a spot. We went trout fishing for a while and Sarah got some studying done for her prelim exam. All in all, it was an enjoyable day.
Sunday, i woke up very early and took some nice stream photos. Then i went fishing and caught another brownie. By that time, i was ready for some coffee and breakfast. Also, that was about when sarah was ready to wake up. We made cherry mountain pies to go with our cereal, and that was great. After we broke camp, we contiued on according to the map above.
The highlights were:
- A deserted waterfall and campsite 1/4 mile back in the woods (we might try to camp there sometime)
- A beautiful waterfall that ran under the road
- Some great hiking trails that run along the open ridgeline
- Views of Looking Glass Rock
- Looking glass falls
