I've seen a lot of great examples of water shots with the d70. I just put a little bowl at the bottom of my sink and dripped water into it. This was a fairly low percentage exercise for me.
Heres what worked in the end:
Set the sink to drip about once every two seconds
set camera to manual focus / manual exposure (f/18@1/500s)
use "extra button" on camera to lock flash value and sync up with external flash
watch spigot with left eye and keep shot framed with right, pow!
