Fishing with my Dad and Matt

Every year, for at least 10 years, i've met my dad at Sinnemahoning State park in Pennsylvania for this first day of trout season. That is the Saturday closest to April 15th. Since living in NC for the last three years, it's really been a challenge to get up there (about a 12 hour drive). But, I still get really excited to go every year. Three of my best friends (Randall, Eric, and Matt) have been meeting us there for several years.

Randall has some angst every year because his family has a hunting and fishing camp that they meet at for this same weekend, so he wants to be there too. We put pressure on him every year and more often than not he joins us.

Eric has been fishing with us since we were roommates in Erie PA. This last year (2005) was a big year, in that eric brought his own camper and his dad. Mark, Eric's dad, is about as excited about trout fishing as my dad. Which means, not really at all. But, I think he had a good time. Hanging out with his son, and the rest of us. I hope that Mark joins our tradition.

Matt has been fishing with us for 2 years now. I'm pleased that he takes the time to come up with us. I pass through his neck of the woods on my way. So it has been convenient for me to ride with him.

Sarah and Clint - High Key

Sarah was my helpful subject again. In this photo, we are standing in front of a window with blinds that is drenched in sun. This creates a nice even white background.

Blueridge Parkway - Morning fog

One of our (Sarah and Clint) many trips to the Stone Mountain area. The campground at Stone Mountain State Park was full, so we buzzed up to the BRP and the campground was nearly empty.

Fishing at Buckhorn Dam

We'd heard good things about this area, so we decided to check it out. Buckhorn Dam is located on the Cape Fear River about 3 miles south of where 42 crosses the Cape Fear. Fishing was bad, we didn't catch anything worthwhile.

The water was very low and snaggy. This apparently is because a helicopter crashed into high power lines above the dam. The utility company had to repair or replace several miles of line. So, the corp of engineers held most water back in Jordan Lake (which is what partially feeds the cape fear).

Roasted Chicken.

Sarah and I finally got our roasting pan from LnT. I was worried that it would be to big, but it turns out to be the perfect size. Should be just about right for lasagna.

Lighthouse near Cleveland OH

When Sarah and I were in Mentor OH around Thanksgiving, we went down to explore this with Jackie and Justin. I tweaked this photo in photoshop.
Self-portrait

Got my lightstand from B&H yesterday and wanted to try it out. I just took my flash and set it to wireless mode. Mounted it on the stand shot into the umbrella. This was the very first shot with this setup and I'm quite pleased.

Japanese Honeysuckle

This invasive species is taking over a bush in our backyard. I'm glad. The bush that it is growing on is ugly.

My lighting setup (umbrella and sb600)
Sandhills of NC

Sarah and I went on a trip down to Aberdeen NC to visit with larry and shannon. Across the street from the campground was this lovely field.

Sarah and Me.

I just got a photo umbrella yesterday and have been playing with it. This is going to be a lot of fun. I need to buy or manufacture some sort of lightstand now (in the photo, i'm holding the camera cause the light is on my tripod)

Is this some sort of Iris? We found quite a few of these near water up in VA on the BRP.
